the challenge
Climate change is real, and African countries bear the brunt of it.
The droughts in Namibia and Zambia have cost lives, and the survivors have seen their livelihoods fundamentally altered. The stories we can tell keep you awake at night.
What do we do? Start another BioChar removal company? Or do we aim to have impact? Real impact on the environment, on people and on communities, and make a difference in the fight against climate change.

Across Southern Africa, dense woody vegetation has transformed millions of hectares of productive rangeland into degraded landscapes. Not invasive species, but naturally occurring native bush that has gone out of control. Native grasses disappear beneath the bush, biodiversity declines and farming communities lose productive capacity.
The solution cannot simply be about removing carbon from the atmosphere. There needs to be more.
Carbon finance must help build a future for the people who work the land. Otherwise, it flows into the pockets of the haves, while doing little for the have-nots.
